Prior to his keynote gig at Miami’s Mokai on March 25th, the SCI+TEC Digital Audio boss had pledged to donate all door and pre-sale ticket proceeds from his label showcase to the Japanese Red Cross. However because the event raised more than expected, half will now go to the Red Cross, whilst the other half will go to Peace Boat, another charity that has been doing great work in the wake of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
Dubfire and Carlo Lio waived their DJ fees from the night in order to ensure as much money as possible was raised for Japan. Both Peace Boat and the Japanese Red Cross received $4,056.49 each.
"My thoughts and prayers are with those who are suffering in the aftermath of the recent earthquake, tsunami and the alarming nuclear crisis which poses a potential long-term impact.
The Japanese people deserve our support and financial aid so that they can begin to heal their people and rebuild their lives. They have shown such enormous hospitality on my every visit that I must return their kindness. I have pledged to help the rebuilding process by donating all of the proceeds from my March 25th event in Miami and I ask all of you to do what you can to help."
